The Shanghai curse continues as Global Esports defeated EDward Gaming 2-0. The Chinese juggernauts join Xi Lai Gaming and TYLOO as the third Chinese team eliminated in their home country.
GE's map pick of Summit started the series off, with the Pacific team opting for the Chamber and Sage composition. EDG opted for a double-Duelist comp with stew on Yoru and ZmjjKK on Neon. stew took down two with a Sheriff in the pistol round, but GE closed the round out and won the following round to go up 2-0.
As the half continued, UdoTan made his presence known. Multiple first bloods helped GE reach a 7-0 lead. With the roar of the crowd, EDG chipped away at the lead. Once stew's Operator came online, the Duelist found crucial picks to cut GE's lead, ending the half 8-4.

Another textbook 2v1 against ZmjjKK awarded GE the pistol round, and a PatMen bonus round ace gave the Indian organization a 10-4 lead.
The Filipino player looked comfortable on Astra as he topped the leaderboard for GE. At 11-4, EDG had no choice but to force. A Smoggy 3K with Stingers stopped the bleeding at 11-5, but GE's firepower on attack proved too much for EDG, as the Pacific first seed claimed the series lead.
EDG entered survival mode on their map pick of Sunset. This time around, GE picked up the double-Duelist composition with Autumn and UdoTan leading the way. EDG's ZmjjKK played the team's only Duelist while stew picked up KAY/O.
Smoggy shot three down to take the pistol round, and EDG closed out the following round to keep their Shanghai hopes alive. Even with only three rifles, EDG took the bonus round, solidifying an early 3-0 lead. The third-round loss fired up GE, as the Pacific squad went on a five-round run behind the aim of xavi8k 's Omen. EDG clapped back with a round of their own, but GE captured the next two rounds. In the last round of the half, the Chinese crowd erupted after a Smoggy 4K. The half finished 7-5.

Kr1stal 's three kills earned GE another pistol round and anti-eco win. GE weren't able to convert the bonus round as they did on Summit, as EDG kept their hopes alive.
However, UdoTan 's 11 kills in four rounds overwhelmed EDG's defense. The 13-6 defeat against GE silenced the Chinese crowd as EDG became the third Chinese team eliminated from Champions Shanghai.
From the Press Room
EDG stew on his first international experience: "Personally, it's an honor playing on a big international stage. From the perspective of playing for EDG, I feel like I've learned a lot this year."
GE Platoon on GE's next game against LOUD: "It's going to be hard because you can tell they have a lot of heart. Especially in an elimination match, it's really going to come down to who wants it more in every single round and every single moment. We're going to keep focusing on what we do best. If we overthink it, we might just get overrun by them. Today, we had a good rhythm and we're just going to try to keep that rhythm next game. Best of luck to them, as well. They probably play the most similar to the teams we're used to playing. It's just going to be a lot of crazy fights that hopefully we come out on top of."
